Honorary Patron

Grand Master Tony Quigley 9th Dan Chung Do Kwan

Our Honorary Patron is Grand Master Tony Quigley 9th Dan who earned his Black Belt after he was posted to Korea whilst serving in the Royal Air Force in 1964 and was the very first person to return to the UK having achieved a Black Belt in Taekwondo.

Tony Quigley also served in other Far Eastern countries, including Singapore, where he trained with Master Lee Chee Kin (Fred Lee) 6th Dan, and together in 1967 they went on to found a British organisation to promote Taekwondo throughout the country.  The organisation flourished and grew rapidly with many senior Taekwondo practitioners in the UK today having been taught by or tested by Tony Quigley and Fred Lee.

As head of British Taekwondo, Tony would later form a lasting friendship with Grand Master Park, Hae Man of the Chung Do Kwan and promote the values of the Chung Do Kwan way.

Today Grand Master Tony Quigley and Fred Lee both in their eighties, are retired from active Martial Arts having both achieved the highest grade of 9th Dan Black Belt.

Grand Master Andy Davies was privileged to have been part of the original organisation founded by Tony Quigley and Fed Lee, having competed in national competition and trained and tested for his Black Belt as part of it in the early 1970's.
