Children

Martial Arts are great for children because it offers them an outlet for their natural youthful exuberance and energy within a structured and disciplined environment.  It also helps them develop and improve their focus, concentration, determination, coordination, flexibility, overall health and fitness level as well as their interactive and social skills.  Many children also enjoy the traditional aspects of Taekwondo.

     Women

There is a common myth that Martial Arts aren't suitable for women and are too aggressive for females , but nothing could be further from the truth!  In fact there has never been a better time for women to take up Martial Arts.

By joining our Martial Arts programme you will learn to embolden and empower yourself with greater confidence, overcome your fears and at the same time learn some great self-defence skills.

Age and ability are no barrier to starting and once you do, you will begin to improve in ways that you couldn't imagine:

Not only will you increase your flexibility and range of movement you will also tone your body and learn to strenghten your core and develop greater balance.

It also helps widen your social circle and make new friends.

Adults

As well as promoting an active lifestyle, Martial Arts such as Taekwondo have been shown to improve and maintain levels of balance, cognitive functions, cardiovascular fitness and physiological health aspects that tend to deteriorate with age.

Maintaining and improving mobility is an important benefit, especially in adults and seniors as well as on occasion, offering a lifeline by providing a social structure

       Sport?

In many activity-based programmes, including some martial arts clubs, instant reward systems are deeply embedded: games, point scoring, competition based, frequent belt changes, stripes, medals, points, high-fives, and praise for minimal effort or mere participation. When those rewards slow down or disappear, motivation often collapses. This is one of the reasons many children quit activities quickly—they have been trained to expect constant attention, enjoyment and reward rather than to value effort, discipline, and perseverance.

'Modern' competition-driven environments can elevate dopamine levels but also increase the emotional cost of failure, often leading to disappointment, anxiety, or self-doubt. When a person hopes to win but loses, their dopamine levels can drop significantly, which is sometimes referred to as a ‘reward prediction error’ which the brain can process similar to real life trauma or disappointment. In other words it can create a negative effect and, in children this may manifest as tantrums, withdraw or even aggressive behaviour.

By contrast, our family-based classes focus on long-term growth, shared experience, and personal responsibility. Progress is earned, not given, and achievement is measured by character as much as by technique.

Families

The natural bonds that are formed between families, especially between parents and children, are often strengthened when they engage in joint activities and recreational pursuits such as Martial Arts.

As a premier Taekwondo School our family oriented classes underpin and reinforce these essential positive family values.

"Families that train together - stick together!"
